Alanya Castle

Antalya, which Italian sailors call "Satalia" and Turks call "Antalia" and "Adalia", is one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia, which was under the rule of great civilizations such as Lydia, Persia and Rome. Especially in Antalya, which is one of our tourism centers with its natural beauties, the social life that continues in summer and winter gains intensity in the "Kaleiçi" region. "Antalya Castle", which protected the city against the dangers that may come from the sea and the land, with its bastions, gates and fortification walls when Antalya was established, is an important historical texture that history researchers, architects and archaeologists are interested in, besides being just a social area. We have a few fragments of towers from the huge Antalya Castle, where Evliya Çelebi, who visited Antalya in 1671-72, wrote that the city was surrounded by a 4,400-meter-long wall on which eighty towers are pointed. According to what is told, these high walls used to continue uninterruptedly from the place called Kalekapısı to Hadrian's Gate until the 1930s.
